Your Invitation to Our Free Online Event

From 18-25th November 2024, in collaboration with Limitless, we are holding the INSPIRE Education Summit to envisage (and help create!) a new paradigm of education. We’d love you to join us!

This event is to celebrate the launch of our new membership platform for start-up schools and learning communities, the details of which will be announced live at the Summit on Monday 25th November!

Summit Speakers

The following incredible speakers will be theming their sessions around the question:

“If you could design a new paradigm of education, how would it look?”

  • Andrew Speight, founder of Emoco, which supports schools to co-produce whole-school wellbeing solutions;
  • Iris Chen, parenting coach, blogger and author of ‘Untigering’;
  • Becky Carlzon, co-author of ‘Powering Up Children’ and co-creator of Learning Pioneers and Press Play;
  • Charlotte Church, singer/song-writer, activist and founder of her own democratic/self-directed learning community, The Awen Project. Derry Hannam will also join this session to outline his call for 20% self-directed education time in schools;
  • Je’anna Clements, learning community founder and author of several books including ‘Help, My Kid Hates School!’, will be speaking alongside Sifaan Zavahir, a democratic school founder and children’s rights activist.
  • Dr James Mannion, TEDx speaker, host of the Rethinking Education podcast and co-author of ‘Fear is the Mind Killer’;
  • Dr Naomi Fisher, clinical psychologist and author of several books including, ‘Changing Our Minds: How Children Can Take Control of their Own Learning’;
  • Kate Robinson, co-author of book “Imagine if… Creating a Future for Us All,” (which serves as the manifesto for her father Sir Ken Robinson);
  • Ellie Costello, director of Square Peg and co-author of ‘Square Pegs’ (which has been recommended to the DfE by the National Children’s Bureau as core reading). Ellie will be speaking alongside Adam Vasco, Director of Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Wolverhampton and Chris Bagley, Educational Psychologist and Director of Research of States of Mind;
  • Dr Gina Riley, educational psychologist, clinical professor and author of several books, including ‘Unschooling: Exploring Learning Beyond the Classroom’;
  • Zoe Readhead, director of Summerhill School, daughter of education pioneer, AS Neill. This session will also incorporate a Youth Panel where five unschoolers will share their experiences of learning outside of the mainstream education system.

Could You Set Up Your Own School or Learning Community?

We hope that these incredible presentations will be a source of inspiration to those who are striving to create something new. As such, the INSPIRE Education Summit will culminate in a live ‘Ask the Expert’ Q&A on Monday 25th November.

You are invited to join our panel of experts who have been there and done it, to learn how they set up their own innovative schools and learning communities, which are paving the way for a new paradigm of education. Our panel includes:

  • Melissa Kendall, co-founder of the first Lumiar school in the UK (Stowford);
  • Lucy Stephens, founder of The New School, a democratic school in London;
  • Sophie Christophy, co-founder of consent-based, self-directed learning communities The Cabin and The Lodge (Herts/Essex border);
  • Dr Ian Cunningham, founder of the Self Managed Learning College (Brighton), and author of several books including, ‘Self Managed Learning and the New Educational Paradigm’.

We hope to see you there! For more information about our speakers, timings of the event, access to recordings and prizes to be won, please visit EducationStartUps.org/Inspire
